Two days ago Standard Newspaper highlighted a story about a poor girl who hawks Sukuma Wiki in Nairobi in a quest to raise school fees to join her dream school.
A 14-year-old Addah Musungu rooted from Shianda village, Butere Constituency sat for last year’s KCPE and garnered 345 marks but failed to secure secondary school education. This pestered her to seek for means to meet school fees in order to achieve her dreams. She sought for hawking Sukuma Wiki in Kayole, Nairobi but the little she earned from the vegetables could not meet her dreams.
She later decided to use the social media platform to display her plea in order to attract well-wishers to help foot in her school fees.
News went wild with social media users taking it to almost every site to attract any well-wisher to help raise Addah’s fees. This news came to appeal one renowned humanitarian and a politician who happens also to be Butere Constituency Member of Parliament Hon Tindi Mwale. Mr. Mwale decided to take up the role by approaching the girl’s family to seek more information about the little girl. Mr. Mwale told Shahidi news that the family which has been in Nairobi for the last 13 years strains to meet a living. Addah’s parents work as casuals in Nairobi.
With his kindred heart, Hon Mwale swiftly came in and paid the little girl’s school fees through his initiative, Tindi Mwale Foundation.
Addah Musungu who did her KCPE exam at Esvak Community Centre, Kayole will now join St Mary’s Girls High School, Mwea courtesy of the Mp.
Speaking to Shahidi News, Butere Mp Tindi Mwale said that through his foundation, he will ensure that Addah attains her Secondary School education.
The Tindi Mwale Foundation was founded in 2014. Currently operational in 5 counties in the Western region of Kenya; Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Trans Nzoia and Vihiga with plans to expand throughout East Africa.
The foundations focus areas are in major matters shaping the community, ensuring the projects started are sustainable and can realize major impacts.
