Good news for Kakamega as County Women Rep launches the construction of water boreholes

Kakamega County Women Representative Hon Elsie Muhanda today led tens to hundreds of residents of Malava Sub County in an event that was graced by Kakamega County Deputy Governor Prof Philip Kutima. The launch of 60 boreholes, 60 wards water programme took place at Kambi Mwanza Market drawing leaders and stakeholders ranging from government institutions, private firms, NGOs among the locals curious to witness the long-awaited day. This marked the County’s leader’s pledge to residents of Kakamega County giving birth to the construction of water boreholes across the county to address water acute that has seen some areas suffer during dry spell periods. It was also realized that some areas in Kakamega County witness residents walk distances in such of water.
Hon Elsie’s programme was today applauded by County Government of Kenya through Deputy Governor Prof Kutima, Bungoma Women Representative Hon Catherine Wambilianga, National Government Affirmative Action Fund’s officials among other key stakeholders.
Today’s launch of the project has opened up the constructions of the boreholes across the county.
During the event, the Women leader also identified various groups, young girls, Bodaboda riders, school children as each group benefitted from their respective support. Over 120 young school girls across the County are set for training in vocational colleges to help them acquire skills which will economically empower them. This is under the programme referred to as Tumaini Scholars.
